Zack Snyder’s upcoming film for Netflix,Rebel Moon, finally receives its MPA rating. And while the so-called adult version ofStar Warswill reach a wide audience, it will also offer a slightly darker version for those who wish to enjoy the director’s original vision.
While the saga created by George Lucas has tried to keep the levels of violence and content not appropriate for children low in order to attract as many moviegoers as possible, Snyder has already shown that he is interested in telling stories that are a little darker and not so family-friendly. Films like300,Sucker Punch,Watchmenand even his adaptations based on DC characters are a clear example of the director’s vision. And, despite its classification,Rebel Moonwill not be the exception.
ThroughFilmRatings.comit was confirmed that Snyder’s new space opera has been rated PG-13 for"sequences of strong violence, sexual assault, bloody images, language, sexual material and partial nudity.“Fortunately, the director’s most die-hard fans will be able to enjoy a slightly more explicit version, as Snyder previously confirmed that there will be R-rated cuts of the film that will offer a more faithful vision of his original idea forRebel Moon.
The movie, which is set to hit the screen on December 22, was originally conceive as aStar Warsmovie when Snyder first started working on it many years ago. Ultimately, the director couldn’t sell it to Lucasfilm and kept developing it to turn it into what fans we’ll get to see on Netflix, which actor Ed Skrein described as"Star Wars With Sex, Violence & Swearing.”

The epic space opera focuses on the population of a small planet that is constantly oppressed by the army of the current tyrant government. Tired of being attacked and mistreated, they decide to send a young outcast with a dark past to recruit allies across the galaxy, in order to overthrow the empire that dominates them.
