Cyberpunk 2077 Endings, Ranked Worst To Best

Cyberpunk 2077 has six endings to wrap up V’s time and career as a mercenary in Night City before the credits roll. Here are the endings, ranked.

Believing It Could Break The Way The Game Was Constructed

In an interview withDualshockers,Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer, Pawel Sasko, addressed the fan demand for a New Game Plus mode in the game and explained the reasoning behind its exclusion. According to Sasko, it primarily came down to the game’s core design and story, as he pointed out that while the game’s prologue is about “becoming a legend” in Night City, the remainder of the game is actually about dealing with terminal illness as V’s body gradually deteriorates due to the prototype Relic embedded in their head.

Therefore, because of these themes, Sasko believed it would be “incredibly difficult to figure out a way where New Game Plus could be done in a way that doesn’t completely break the way the game is constructed.” He also went on to explain thatwhile games likeStarfieldhad been thought through as a New Game Plus experience due to its cyclical nature, this wasn’t the case withCyberpunk 2077, as it was “designed to be replayed” instead, with so many things that players can get a varied experience by trying completely different approaches with each playthrough down tochoosing new life paths, romances and builds, and the idea of carrying things over from a previous playthrough would go against this.

There are a variety of romantic options in Cyberpunk 2077, but some are more rewarding than others. Which romance partner should V choose?

Cyberpunk 2077’s New Game Plus Wouldn’t Work

Sasko Believed It Could Look “Tacked On” If Done Incorrectly

While Sasko did point out that CD Projekt Red could figure out the design solutions related to mechanics and gameplay for New Game Plus, stating that it is simply “math and design,” he does note that New Game Plus just wouldn’t work with the game on a narrative level. In fact, adding it on as an afterthought could be detrimental to the game as a whole, with Sasko sayingit could potentially look “very tacked on” if done incorrectly.

With most ofCyberpunk 2077’s developers moving onto other projectsat CD Projekt Red, such as the upcomingWitchergame, or evenCyberpunk 2077’s sequel, codenamedOrion, the game will not be getting major updates going forward, which further rules out the possibility of a New Game Plus mode. This isn’t a bad thing, however. With a game likeCyberpunk 2077,which has a sense of finality in each of its endings as V can either come to terms with their fate in some capacity, it does feel like each playthrough should be unique as it tells a largely complete story.
