The recent news confirms that Tom Cruise will appear in King Charles’ Coronation. At the event,Tom Cruisewill join Lionel Richie and David and Victoria Beckham along with several other stars. Following the news of the Top Gun actor joining the ceremony, many fans have been asking how the actor is linked to the royal family.
However, his relation to the Windsors is not new. In the late ’90s when Cruise was dating hisEyes Wide Shutco-star, Nicole Kidman, the actor became chums with the late Princess Diana. The couple met the princess at a screening ofFar and Awayin 1992. Following Princess’ death in a tragic car accident in 1997, Cruise said that he was“devastated”by her passing.“She was a magical person and really engulfed you with her personality,”he said. The couple attended the funeral of the late princess consoling her family and friends.

Tom Cruise’s Bond With Late Queen Elizabeth II
Just before her demise at the age of 96, Cruise was pretty close to the late Queen Elizabeth II. According to a Sunday Times source, the Queen and Cruise “really hit it off” after having tea. Later, they set a second meeting.“Just the two of them had tea together,”the source said.
“She loved seeing him and they really hit it off, so much so that she invited him back for lunch. He was even allowed to fly in by helicopter.”

Earlier, the Top Gun actor also appeared at the Queen Platinum Jubilee ceremony. In a segment at the event, the actor said that he was very honored.“She’s a woman I greatly admire. She has tremendous dignity and I admire her devotion. What she has accomplished has been historic.”

Cruise was again in the news after offering assistance to Duchess Catherine on the stairs as she ascended in towering glam heels. The incident has created quite a buzz as it was not in line with the protocol of the royal family. Cruise’s response, however, was straightforward and said he acted as a gentleman.
“It’s natural right? And it’s what my mom taught me to do — be a gentleman and offer assistance. It was a moment thing. And, honestly, I did not see anything wrong in it, yet we did giggle about it afterwards simply because, well I should have remembered,”Cruise said.
“People love the British royals as do I, and I am aware they brought so much focus onto the event of which I am so grateful and well happy beyond words,”Cruise said in another statement.
AfterTop Gun: Maverick,Cruse is all set to appear in the latest installment of theMission: Impossiblefranchise,Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. The movie will be released in two parts, one of which will be released on 21 June 2025 while the second will hit theatre on 23 July 2025.
