At present, not too much has been revealed about the upcoming Disney+ series, other than the fact that Elizabeth Olsen will return as Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany will be back as Vision. However, this new rumor reveals who the villain might be, which gives us major clues about the plot.

With that out of the way, a new report suggests that Nightmare will be the villain in the show, and that an actor has been cast to play the part. There is no word yet on who the actor might be, so anything on that front would be hopeless and aimless speculation at this point. Even without knowing who will play Nightmare, having this specific villain show up inWandaVisionis undoubtedly intriguing for several reasons.
First and foremost, it’s been more or less confirmed thatNightmareis expected to be one of the villains inDoctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Writer C. Robert Cargill indicated prior to the official announcement that he and director Scott Derrickson hoped to use the ruler of theDream Dimensionas the big bad in the sequel. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has also confirmed previously thatWandaVisionwill connected directly with Doctor Strange 2, and that Elizabeth Olsen will appear in the movie as well. Both projects sharing the same villain would certainly make for some major connective tissue.
Nightmare, for those who may not be familiar, is the ruler of the Dream Dimension and he brings tortured people there in their sleep. He also rides a horse namedDreamstalker. The character first appeared inStrange Tales#110 and was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.WandaVisionwill be part sitcom and part spectacle. The show will feature Wanda and Vision’s twin boys, Tommy and Billy, who will reportedly grow up rather fast on the show. It’s speculated that Scarlet Witch could be trapped in some sort of dreamstate, thanks to Nightmare, which would make sense and could explain the sitcom-like elements.
