The UploadVR Showcase was today, but you’d be forgiven for missing out on it due to VR still being a bit niche, and the current gaming news cycle taking a little snooze due to a combination of an initial post-Summer Game Fest lull and the domination ofShadow of the Erdtreeovershadowing everything else at the moment. But there was still stuff worth checking out/getting excited for, and that includes the latest horror game from tinyBuild and developers Scythe Dev Team, Deep Cuts.As seen in the reveal trailer at the link here, the game is set to be a wild ride through the world of blockbuster cinema, notably coming across as more action-oriented horror while still looking to hopefully be fun.

Deep Cuts sees you playing as Elise Weber, a fimmaker who, alongside her partner Malcolm Micheaux, enjoyed a lengthy career as they crafted several films across a multitude of genres. But then the cartoon creations of these movies went crazy, and now Elsie has to explore the Lights Camera Faction studio and pretty much literally delve into these movies in order to try and save Malcolm.

Along the way, they’ll have to fend off monsters with the lives of boom mics and prop machine guns as they traverse though Westerns, sci-fi films, ‘80 slashers and more, solving puzzles along the way with skills such as time manipulation, and in between all that, search for that sweet, sweet hidden lore that comes with the genre. Oh, and there’s a cartoon character named Bowie who assists you, because naturally.

10 Best VR Shooters

Whether is competitive or casual, there is a VR shooter game out there for everyone.

This isn’t tinyBuild and Scythe Dev’s first crack at a horror game, of course. In 2021, Scythe Dev madeHappy’s Humble Burger Farm,a mascot horror title that receiveda mixed reaction from the critics, with some liking it a lot and some calling it just average, but receiving a much more positive response from players, as seen on the game’s Steam page at the prior link.

Pistol Whip

It also isn’t their first VR horror title, having released the free short gameReturn to Northbury Grovelast year, which seems to have flown completely under the radar. Still, it looks like the team is more the ready to try and make a nicely odd and enjoyable bit of horror with Deep Cuts, and we’ll see if they succeed when the game arrives later this Fall for Meta Quest platforms, with Steam VR and PSVR 2 releases to follow next year.
