The first season premiered in June this year, and the storybased on the YA book trilogyby Jenny Han has received a 91% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Summer I Turner Prettyis a young adult tale about love, family, and friendship. Thefeel-good, comforting seriesdoesn’t shy away from facing more adult problems and subjects, standing out from similar shows. Following two families that have been bonded for years (the moms were college best friends), they always spend the summer together. This time, things couldn’t be more different for young Belly, and there are more secrets than any of the teens know about, even if they know the scenario in this story is set as well as the back of their hands.

Belly (Lola Tung)
Bellyis the young protagonist of this teen summer tale. During the summer of her 16th birthdayafter the end of schoolfor the year, Belly does what her family always does: goes to Cousins Beach and stays at her mom’s best friend’s house. However, this summer is going to be different from all the other ones, and Belly feels it. She is more confident and wants to put herself out there, something she had never been particularly a fan of. With summer romances comes the inability to hide or ignore her lifelong crush on Conrad, which could change everything she came to know and love.

Conradis Susanah’s oldest son. He used to be fun and adventurous, but something happened, and he is now quiet and likes to keep it to himself. Conrad is struggling with things that the others can’t even dream of and will do everything he can to keep it that way. The teen is known for his multiple love affairs, creating a particular reputation with the girls. However, there is one person that he can’t keep out of his mind, no matter how hard he tries.
Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno)
Jeremiahis the younger brother of Conrad. The kind-hearted boy always wants to do what is right. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is not afraid to be vulnerable with anyone he is interested in. There is a certain girl that he may have been feeling a spark for, and this summer might the one where he acts on it. Jeremiah is athletic and the life of the party, but there are some things hidden from him that might shake his everlasting happy mood.
Steven (Sean Kaufman)
Stevenis Belly’s older brother. He and Jeremiah get jobs at the country club during the summer, and his charismatic personality will quickly work in his favor – not only professionally. Steven will promptly fall head over heels for a girl that may seem completely out of his reach. This relationship may shake some core values and the image he has of who he is, which could possibly make him end the summer as a very different person from when it started.

Laurel (Jackie Chung)
Laurelis Belly and Steven’s mom. After her divorce, she has not been having fun like the good old days, but there is no need to worry: her best friend from college, Susannah, will be happy to help her. She is an author struggling to sell her book and having an even harder time writing a new one. But with the summer comes new adventures and some much-needed (and extremely hard) conversations that may spark her creativity.
Susannah (Rachel Blanchard)
Susannahis Conrad and Jeremiah’s mom. Susannah is the type of person to always try to make everything perfect for everyone else: the perfect summer, the perfect party, etc. Susannah pushes everyone out of their comfort zone, but in the best way possible — even if she doesn’t allow people in to do the same for her. She has a passion for painting and will definitely try to keep this particular summer frozen in time throughout her portrays. However, there are things that she can’t control that will affect everyone once they find out.
Taylor (Rain Spencer)
Tayloris Belly’s outgoing best friend. She is supportive of Belly but is also prepared to say harsh truths to her when needed. Taylor comes to spend a few days on the beach house, and there is no shortage of drama when Taylor reveals that she has crushes of her own - which she kept a secret from everyone. Her friendship with Belly may be put to test in a way that has not happened before, making or breaking their relationship. She is usually the final push Belly needs to do something different, but their roles may turn this particular summer, creating a beautiful relationship for both of them.
