The Mandalorianseason 3 trailerrecently leaked online, and fans are going nuts. The trailer was uploaded just last week, but the video is definitely not official. It seems to have been filmed by an audience member during the trailer’s premiere at theStar WarsCelebration. Even though it looks like a pirated video made by a guy with a VHS camera, it hasn’t stopped everyone from getting all excited. The typical situation with these Celebration exclusive releases is that they are never released to the public. Or, at least, the public that didn’t have a ticket to get intoStar WarsCelebration. But now it seems the cat’s out of the bag.

No one had heard much of anything about season 3 ofThe Mandalorian. Aside from the fact that Jon Favreau had his series renewed, there wasn’t much to report. But it seems that Industrial Light & Magic has been hard at work on the third season behind our backs. At least all of us regular folk get to see the fruits of all their labor now. Unfortunately, due to how aggressively Disney tends to punish the spread of videos like these, we won’t be able to link any of the actual footage, but all it takes is some quick googling on your part to find that diamond in the rough. Just remember, as we said, that diamond is still pretty rough itself.

The Reveal of Mandalore

The trailer itself is spectacular, even if it’s being viewed in the worst way possible. Like we said, the video was taken on a phone over somebody’s shoulder in the audience. It might have been a burner phone, to be honest. Any regular iPhone or Android could have done a better job than what we’re looking at. But still, what we can see from this short audience perspective shows us some big hints for what’s coming in season 3.

The trailer opens on quite the laser-filled skirmish on some unknown planet, cut with a shot of aMandalorian helmet. Then we see someone whose face you can’t really make out, followed by our main man Grogu caught up sitting in Din Djarin’s lap during a huge starfighter battle. This is followed up with a huge crowd cheering moment when a Babu Frik species shows up, or it might even be Babu Frik himself. Either way, the crowd seems ecstatic.

After this, there are more space visuals, andBo Katan comes in, revealing her face as she is wont to do. Then, there is a huge shot of what’s either a Star Destroyer scrapyard or construction yard, and Bo Katan flying her starfighter through an asteroid belt, hunting down enemy ships with expert accuracy. And with some quick gunslinger action, we see two Mandalorians back-to-back in a street fight.

Following are more shots of Mando and Grogu, usually speeding off in their modified Naboo starfighter; Grogu pulling switched and Mando trying to keep things steady. And finally, there is a big reveal of the Mandalorian homeworld. Seen from the sky, the place is in ruins, bombed halfway back to the Stone Age. All we see are broken structures and craters from Imperial bombs. But among this chaos from the trailer, we are given some clues as to what season 3 will be about.

Who Will Claim the Mandalorian Throne?

There were actuallytwo trailers shown atStar WarsCelebration, but only one of them leaked online. Still, from those that have podcasts, YouTube channels, etc., we can put together some images of what might happen in the third season.

We know some things from the end of the second season, and the big thing was that Din Djarin had disgraced himself to the Armorer due to the fact he had removed his helmet. Of course, he only did that once to save his own life and another time to save Grogu’s but the Armorer demanded he leaves regardless. She mentioned that the only way Din Djarin could redeem himself was to return to theirhome planet of Mandaloreand enter the living waters. But this was naturally impossible because of the state Mandalore was in. Now it seems Din Djarin will attempt to get there anyway.

Another thing implied by scenes from this trailer and the other one, witnessed by certain culture experts, is that there could possibly be some sort of conflict between the Armorer with her clan of almost religious, helmeted Mandalorians, and Bo Katan with her rightful claim to the throne of Mandalore. If this happens, it might isolate Din Djarin completely. He has been excommunicated from the Armorer’s clan due to removing his helmet. And Bo Katan needs the Mandalorian’s dark saber in order to rule Mandalore. The only way she can get that is by killing Din Djarin.

This again leaves the Mandalorian on the outside in a unique position to stop the fight or be consumed by it. But we won’t see until February 2023 when the new season ofThe Mandaloriandrops on Disney+.
