5Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

Games That Pack a Punch

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

The Street Fighter series has stood in the hall of fame as the greatest fighting franchise of all time. After so many releases on arcade and console, however, trying to decide which ranks as the best is a bigger battle than M. Bison. Many fans claim Street Fighter II is the titan for how it redefined the genre, yet others say Street Fighter III is the best. So, why not both?

Capcom’s Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection contains a total of 12 games, including the original 1987 release, five versions of Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha 1 through 3, and three versions of Street Fighter III. That’s a lot of fighting in the streets in one great collection.

The collection may have been made by Digital Eclipse, but the packaged games were all originally developed by Capcom.

4Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Live Out Your Fantasy Battles

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Ever want to see Deadpool battle Dante fromDevil May Cry? Or see Spider-Man fight Zero fromMega Man X? Sadly, that’s a movie premise that’ll never happen, so you’ll just have to settle for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, one of the best fighting games ever for its iconic roster of fighters.

Capcom andMarvelhave given players so many memorable characters over the years, who can resist the chance to see them duke it out across levels based on their games and comics? Featuring over fifty playable fighters, instead of a typical one-on-one faceoff, matches pit two teams against one another. With three characters for each team, you have thousands of unique combinations for every match. Go full Marvel versus Capcom or mix it up any way you want.

3Mega Man Legacy Collection

The Iconic Super Fighting Robot

Mega Man Legacy Collection

Nintendo has Mario, but Capcom has Mega Man. The classic blue robot has been busting up bad machines since the ‘80s. What’s not to love? The game changed side-scrolling adventures with its famous select screen, allowing players to choose each stage before battling a boss and claiming their power. That’s why Mega Man has continued from the 8-bit of the NES to 3D.

After so many adventures, trying to narrow it down to just one would be teeth-pulling hard. Fortunately, Capcom has the perfect solution. Thanks to the Mega Man Legacy Collection, you’re able to replay the first six games from the original series on modern hardware. Relieve the battles and music that put Mega Man on the path to gaming history.

2Devil May Cry 5

“Pull My Devil Trigger”

Devil May Cry 5

Going to get in trouble for this one. It was a hard pick, butDevil May Cry 5deserves its place for its fast and intense combat, not to mention the music, because the soundtrack alone makes the game worth playing. Let out your inner demon and play as not one, but three powerful devil hunters: Dante, Nero and the mysterious V.

Every character plays differently as you switch between them for each mission. Juggle multiple weapons and combat styles as Dante. Bust up demons with Nero’s slick moves and weaponized prosthetic arms. Summon V’s familiars and utilize their range of demonic powers. Even the music is another mechanic in this hack-and-slash adventure. The more moves and attacks you pull off causes your rank to increase, and the higher it rises during combat, the more intense the music gets.

Honorable Mentions: Devil May Cry 3, Mega Man X, Resident Evil 7, and Monster Hunter 4 are all phenomenal games. Unfortunately, this list can only hold ten, and these choices weren’t easy to make.

1Resident Evil 4 (2005)

The Pinnacle of Survival Horror

Resident Evil 4

You can’t talk about Capcom without mentioning their groundbreaking Resident Evil series. Every game adds something new to spark fan interest, butResident Evil 4stands out as the one that changed survival horror forever. Leon Kennedy is back for the biggest adventure of his career. The President’s daughter has been kidnapped by a cult trying to spread a new parasitic virus and only Leon can stop them.

Resident Evil 4 was revolutionary for balancing action with horror, featuring some of the mostdisturbing monsters in the series. It broke away from tank controls and fixed camera angles, becoming the first third-person shooter to feature an over-the-shoulder perspective, a method that would be adapted in future games likeDead Space. It also added the merchant and attaché case system for selling and storing your weapons. Whether it’s the original or the remake, Resident Evil 4 remains Capcom’s masterpiece.
