Many of us are very eagerly awaiting the arrival ofStranger Thingsseason 2 onNetflix, which arrives sometime this year. The show had a lot going for it, but no doubt, it was the core cast of young actors that drove the show’s success. Naturally, the internet has taken over and decided to do some fan casting. Now, artistMichael Maher Jr.has reimagined them as the cast ofStar Wars.
The art was originally posted toMichale Maher’s personal website and was quickly shared around online, gaining quite a bit of traction on Reddit. The artist didn’t have much to say about the poster, which features Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Will (Noah Schnapp) as Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, and Luke. Honestly, he didn’t need to say much because the art works so incredibly well that it sort of speaks for itself. It is done in the style of a classicStar Warsposter and works perfectly. Even Chewbacca sporting Dustin’s hat isn’t too distracting, at least not in a bad way.
Everyone from theStranger Thingscast seems to fit their respectiveStar Warsrole quite well, but there is one pretty obvious standout.Millie Bobby Brownlooks almost scary perfect as ayoung Princess Leia, which is something we have never really seen on screen before in aStar Warsmovie. Interestingly enough,Millie Bobby Brownexpressed interest in playing a young version of the character at Rhode Island Comic Con recently. Here is what she had to say.
“Princess Leia. If they made, I think they are making another Star Wars, I would love a role like that. Because I want to do something far from Eleven or Madison.”
Disney and Lucasfilm are indeed making anotherStar Warsmovie. Quite a few in fact, especially given the recent success ofRogue One: A Star Wars Story. At the moment none of those movies seem to call for a younger person to step in and take on the role thatCarrie Fisheroriginally brought to life, but it could happen. Given the fact thatCarrie Fishersadly passed away recently, bringing in an actress to show a young version of Princess Leia might be a good way to keep her alive in theStar Wars universe, while at the same time not disrespecting the legacy. Outside of her willingness to do it,Millie Bobby Brownwould probably be an incredibly popular choice for the role. This art definitely helps support the choice.
As much as the otherStranger Thingscast members look like young versions of theirStar Warscounterparts, there doesn’t seem to be quite as much need for tiny, young Chewbacca or a young Luke Skywalker moisture farming on Tatooine. That said, with the youngHan Solomovie in the works, there could be some need to see the famous smuggler as a kid, even thoughAlden Ehrenreichwill be playing him in the movie. So, maybe Disney and Lucasfilm could giveFinn Wolfharda call.
