Summary

When it comes toStardew Valley, the game’s pets are an almost essential addition to the experience andeven though the 1.6 Update managed to make them more appealing, one fan took the system even further. The most recent major content patch includeda wealth of customization optionsfor player' pets but when it comes to interactivity, they still sometimes feel like robots just aimless wandering around the farm. Half the fun of owning a pet is teaching them tricks and taking them on small adventures which is now entirely possible in Pelican Town.

Posted to Nexus Mods by creatorSunkenLace, the “Pets Enhanced” mod looks to expand upon the vanilla system by adding in a plethora of new interactive features. Once installed, the add-on allows Farmers to easily equip hats to their critters, feed them treats, and even teach them some handy trickswith a manual that can be purchased from Marnie. These tricks aren’t just for show either, as pets can now be brought along for one’s daily adventures, including a trip down into the dangerous depths of the mines.

Longtime Stardew Valley Players Are Just Now Learning About A Basic Feature

There’s an easy feature for farm animal players they may have been overlooking for years in Stardew Valley, and it’s not even part of the 1.6 update.

Teaching Pets To Hunt In Stardew Valley

Who Doesn’t Want Some Back Up?

The tricks pets can be taught inStardew Valleyinclude the usual “Follow” and “Wait,” which are no doubt fun for Farmers who want some company as they move around Pelican Town but the most fun is undoubtedly “Hunt.” When a pet is taught this skill, they will autonomously attack enemies, dealing a small amount of damagebut still serving as a decent distractionto draw some attention away from players. Cats and dogs even have different stats: The former has a significantly higher chance to dish out a critical hit but the latter deals more consistent normal damage.

ThoseStardew Valleyplayers who opted to adopt a dog rather than a cat can also teach their canine friend an exclusive trick: “Search.” Once learned, this ability will allow dogs to search in bushes in and effort to find any foragable items, acting as a handy assistant at the start of the season. Of course, all of the above doesn’t come cheap as to purchase the manual required to teach these tricks, players will need to fork over 150,000g.

Stardew Valley’s certainly placing a great deal more emphasis on pets as the 1.6 Patch added in some significant changes to how Farmers go about looking after their furry friends. The biggest addition is the ability to purchase more pets from Marnie, resulting in someplayers turning their farm into a small animal shelter.Training hundreds of animals to attack could just be one of the most fun ways to clear the game’s harder dungeons.
