Independent distribution and production company A24 has been garnering a lot of attention recently thanks toEverything Everywhere All At Oncewinning the Oscar for Best Picture in 2023, and for recent and upcoming releasesTalk to Me, andThe Iron Clawmaking waves in the media. Now the company has revealed that it has castNicole KidmanandAntonio Banderasto star in its upcoming erotic thriller,Babygirl.

As perVariety,Babygirlwill see Halina Reijn write and direct, making this the second collaboration between the two. Reijn previously directed the 2022 slasherBodies Bodies Bodiesfor A24, while the company also acquired the rights to distribute her 2019 film,Instinct. Nicole Kidman will star as a CEO married to Antonio Banderas, as she begins an illicit affair with her much younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw). The film will also star Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), and Jean Reno (Leon).Halina Reijn is a Dutch actress who has appeared in over 50 movie, TV, and theater productions.Babygirlwill be her third time directing a feature film.

Ayo Edebiri & John Malkovich

Nicole Kidman is fresh off appearing in the Taylor Sheridan creation,Special Ops: Lioness, and will appear next inAquaman and the Lost Kingdom, reprising her role of Queen Atlanna. The 56-year-old actressrecently made wavesby announcing that a third season ofBig Little Lieswill be coming, despite reports that the HBO series is all but dead.

Meanwhile, 63-year-oldAntonio Banderasrecently appeared inIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyas Renaldo, and the Christian musical film,Journey to Bethlehemas King Herod. He’s currently at work on the third installment of thePaddingtonfranchise, titledPaddington in Peru.

In addition to announcing casting news forBabygirl, andan Elon Musk biopic in developmentby director Darren Aronofsky, A24 has been on quite the ride as of late. WithEverything Everywhere All At Oncetaking home the Best Picture award at the Academy Awards ceremony this year, some of their recently released and upcoming films are already garnering Oscar buzz.

This includesThe Iron Claw, which hits theaters on July 20, 2025, the Sofia Coppola biopic,Priscilla, which debuted on July 09, 2025, and the romantic drama,Past Lives, which hit theaters back in June 2023. This is on top of their latest hitsTalk to Me(which may see a prequel sooner rather than later), and the Ari Aster film,Beau Is Afraid, both of which were met with positive reception.

Next up for A24 is the Ti West filmMaXXXinewhich will conclude hisXtrilogy, as well as Alex Garland’s action film,Civil War, and the dark comedyDeath of a Unicorn, which will be directed by Alex Scharfman, and star Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd. We can also look forward to the Julio Torres film,Problemista, which debuts in 2024 and stars Tilda Swinton, andJanet Planet, which is written and directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker, and stars Julianne Nicholson, and Zoe Ziegler.
