Developer inXile Entertainment has released a new trailer forTorment: Tides of Numenerathat takes a closer look at the world of Numenera. The CRPG is currently in early access on PC and will be releasing sometime next year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One and is the thematic successor to Planescape: Torment. Check out the trailer above.
The setting for the game is called Numenera, and the game expands upon the foundations laid out in the Numenera tabletop game. It takes place on Earth, one billion years into the future, known as the Ninth World. In this time, many civilizations have risen and fallen. The Numenera are machines from past civilizations that can alter the landscape and physical bodies, and which the inhabitants of the world rely on for survival.

The trailer goes on to show some of the creatures andpeopleyou will meet along the way and sets the stage for the tensions between thefactionsthat call the world home. It then moves on to some of thelocationsyou will visit, such as the hub city of Sagus Cliffs, the Valley of Dead Heroes cemetery, the castoff haven Miel Avest, the crystalline Ascension of Kex-Lianish and the otherworldly Castoff’s Labyrinth which exists within the players mind.
All said, it’s a tour de force of the mystical world that players can explore both now in early access and when it releases in full next year.
