Summary

Warning: The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia chapter #424!!After spending over two years on its final arc,My Hero Academiais now definitively approaching its end. Volume #40 went up to chapter #410, so volume #41 will likely go up to chapter #423, the end of the battle against Shigaraki and All For One, and since a typical manga volume has around 10 chapters, the series will likely end around August to have enough content for volume #42.

My Hero Academiais finally coming to a close after ten years of serialization, and it’s ending in a way that gives it somethingshōnenmanga usually never get.My Hero Academiais hardly the only lengthy shōnenmanga to end after a big arc, both in and out ofWeekly Shonen Jump, and more often than not, they all end up sharing a common problem with their endings.

By comparison,My Hero Academia’s endingis structured in a way that avoids a typical problem withshonenmanga, and however that plays out, is sure to be a great send off to the series.

My Hero Academia’s Epilogue Will Give It More Closure Than Other Shonen Manga

Created by Kohei Horikoshi

The biggest difference betweenMy Hero Academia’s ending and the ending of other shōnenmanga is thatMy Hero Academiawill be able to give its story proper closure. More often than not,shōnenmanga will end almost immediately after defeating the final villain or getting the main couple together, which usually leaves how the characters and the world, as a whole, progress from there largely unaddressed. In direct contrast to that,My Hero Academiais set to have a lengthy epilogue to fully close out its story, so it can receive far more closure than the typicalshōnenmanga.

The Biggest Plot Points My Hero Academia Needs To Address

What’s left for My Hero Academia’s story?

My Hero Academiashould have plenty of time to give its story proper closure, and there are plenty of plot points that will benefit from that. Naturally, the story needs to establish what Izuku and his friends do with their lives in the aftermath of the final battle. However, major plot threads that still need to be resolved includeDabi’s fate, whether Kurogiri can regain his memories as Shirakumo, and the romantic tension betweenIzuku and Ochaco. Those plot points deserve to be dealt with in full, and hopefully, the epilogue will make time for them all.

The biggest point that needs to be addressed, of course, is what happens to the world in the aftermath of the final battle.Society inMy Hero Academianeeds to go through drastic changes to address the problems that allowed Shigaraki and All For One to become villains,to begin with, and simply cutting to a future where everything is okay would hardly be satisfying. There are a lot of dangling plot threadsMy Hero Academianeeds to address, but with its lengthy epilogue, it should have a much better time at doing so than othershonenmanga usually have.
