Although the first movie in the franchise went on to surprise James Cameron, it did average among the fans. The first movie was deemed as a misguided adventure that went on to entertain many but was panned by the critics. But the following movies in its footstep went on to fail immensely.

Even though the movies have been considered entertaining by many, the franchise as a whole has been deemed ludicrous and doesn’t do justice to its source material. One of the major problems was the lack of quality characters in the movie, which fall short in comparison with the games.
