PEAK is not an easy game, but not every challenge is as hard as climbing to the game’s namesake. The Foraging Badge is a good early goal, as it can be obtained pretty quickly and consistently after reaching the Tropics.

This guide will discuss how to earn this badge, including some tips to make the process easier.

The Basics of the Foraging Badge
The Foraging Badge is earned by eating five different berries in a single expedition. These berries don’t need to be non-toxic and, as discussed later, the list of valid foods includes some items that many people may not think of as “berries” unless specifically reading the item names rather than just going by visuals.

This is one of the easiest badges in the game to earn, basically only requiring that you overcome the game’s first real challenge: the Shore climb. Upon reaching the Tropics, even if you don’t succeed on that biome’s climb, you can likely earn the badge without major issue. If you’reworking together with friends, this badge is easy to get.

Unlocking the Foraging Badge earns you a face where your character sticks out their tongue and, if playing on Steam, the Foraging Badge achievement.
You probably don’t need to “target” this badge in the sense that you go into a run specifically trying to get it. Instead, aim for a different badge, likeMycology, and just munch of the fruits you find along the way.

Berry Hunting
The following berries are known to work towards this merit badge, with berries marked either (Positive) for those with an overall positive effect when consumed or (Poisonous) for those that inflict poison when consumed:
Something unable to be tested was whether the Napberry, a rare berry with unique healing effects, counted towards this badge. Given the “berry” in its name, it seems likely, but this achievement is easy enough to get that it’s unlikely to be relevant.

Overall, berries are adecent food sourceand, notably, are almost essential to earning the much more difficult Naturalist Badge.
Some Quick Tips
Earning the Foraging badge is very easy to passively do on any run where you get past the Shore. The Shore is typically going to give you ready access to Red and Green Crispberries, with Yellow Crispberries a rarer find but also available in that biome. Eating a single Green Crispberry isn’t especially punishing, filling some of your hunger and giving some poison that, on its own, usually isn’t too taxing, given that poison disappears on its own over time. All crispberries spawn on bushes.
After the Shore, you’ll reach the Tropics. This biome has an abundance of berries, so much so that you could easily get the Foraging badge even if you atenoberries in the previous biome. All forms of Clusterberries, Berrynanas, and Kingberries, as well as Scorchberries, are available in this biome. Clusterberries tend to be the hardest to get, as they spawn on large spiky vines that deal poison when touched, but the other berries are fairly easy to find, being found in the following locations:

If you somehow don’t have the badge yet but have entered the Alpine biome, you’re able to look for the two winterberries. Orange Winterberries spawn on small trees and are pretty easy to find. Yellow Winterberries are fairly rare, only spawning on top of capybara heads (with the passive creatures letting you take them free of charge). Each Alpine map has one hot spring where these animals spawn, but it needs to be emphasized that it’s far easier to get your berries elsewhere.
