The Google Pixel Tablet was first teased at Google’s annual developer conference Google I/O back in 2022. The company then expanded on some of its details during theMade by Googleevent in October 2022 and the device has now finally been made available.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a native Android tablet from Google, with the most recent being thePixel Cthat launched way back in 2015 and since then,the company has flip-flopped back and forth, saying it was pulling out of the tablet market, before announcing its return with this new model, the Pixel Tablet. There’s a lot of excitement about this device, so we’ve gathered up everything you need to know, including release date, specs, price and features.

The Google Pixel Tablet has some promising specs and features on board, including a Hub Mode that makes this device not just a premium Android tablet but a smart home control hub too.
Google Pixel Tablet release date and price
After being teased at Google I/O in 2022, the company has officially made the Pixel Tablet available a year later following the start ofGoogle I/O 2023on 10 May. The tablet comes in three colour options of Porcelain, Hazel and Rose, all of which come with a colour-matched dock called Charging Speaker Dock.
In terms of price, the Google Pixel Tablet will start at $499 in the US and £599 in the UK, putting itin line with the Apple iPad (10th generation).
Google Pixel Tablet specs
The Google Pixel Tablet features a 10.95-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. This delivers a pixel density of 276ppi, which is slightly higher than you’ll find on theApple iPad (10th generation)andApple iPad Air. It’s a 16:10 aspect ratio and you’ll find a maximum brightness of 500nits, which is also the same as what you’ll find on the standard iPad from 2022. There is also a smudge-proof coating and support for USI 2.0 stylus pens on the Pixel Tablet.
Under the hood, the Pixel Tablet is powered byGoogle TensorG2, which is the same powerful hardware found in thePixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. This means it should be an extremely capable device, not using lower-spec hardware that you’d typically find in aNest Hub. Importantly, it should also mean it has dedicated hardware for running AI and suggesting it will be as capable as Google’s phones. There is 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM on board, along with 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options.
There is also a camera on the back of the tablet in the corner and there is one on the front too, which is positioned in a landscape orientation. Both are an 8-megapixel sensor, with 1.12µm pixels and an aperture of f/2.0. They both have an 84-degree field of view and they both come with a range of Pixel camera features includingMagic Eraser, Photo Unblur andNight Sight. The cameras both offer 1080p video recording up to 30fps.
Design and build
The Google Pixel Tablet is manufactured using a new coating process, which applies a nano-ceramic coating over the device’s aluminium chassis. The finish is inspired by porcelain, so it’s expected to be cool to the touch.
In terms of size and weight, the Pixel Tablet measures 258 x 169 x 8.1mm (10.2 x 6.7 x 0.3-inches) and weighs 493g (17.04oz). As mentioned, it comes in three colour options and the tablet comes with a colour-matched speaker dock. When the Pixel Tablet is placed on the dock, it looks very much like aNest Hub Max, with the dock featuring the same shape and material finish around the speaker base. A four-pin connector means the Pixel Tablet will charge 24/7 when on the dock, whilst also being able to transfer audio and data transfer.
Around the display, there are uniformed bezels, while the edge of the device sees a USB-C port positioned at the bottom, and a power button has a fingerprint sensor built into it at the top, much like the Apple iPad (10th generation) and Apple iPad Air.
Charging Speaker Dock and features
Aesthetically, the docked Pixel Tablet looks a lot like a Nest Hub display, as we mentioned, and there’s a reason for that. The Pixel Tablet comes with one Charging Speaker Dock, which turns it into a giant Nest Hub while keeping the tablet charged up 24/7. Similar to theShow Mode dock for the Amazon Fire tablet, when on the dock, there is aHub Mode for the Pixel Tabletthat means when you’re not using it as anAndroid tablet, it can be doing something else rather than become just an inert slab.
The Charging Speaker Dock boosts the device’s audio capabilities so you can just attach it and seamlessly start enjoying music or TV shows with great sound. The Hub Mode meanwhile, replicates the interface of the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max, offering easy control of smart home devices, whether that’s smart lights, smart heating or your smart cameras -something we’d love to see an equivalent on iPad.
While the Pixel Tablet comes with one dock as standard, you can buy additional docks separately. This essentially allows you to position docks around your home - perhaps one in the kitchen, one in the living room and one in the bedroom for example, and you can just bring the Pixel Tablet around the home with you. As you would expect,Google Assistantis on board so you can ask a range of questions, and when in Hub Mode, the Pixel Tablet can also serve up as a digital photo frame.
Additionally, the Pixel Tablet has the Google TV app built in, as well as Chromecast, enabling you to quickly cast video and music to it from your devices.

Google’s Charging Speaker Dock acts as the perfect home for your Pixel Tablet when you’re not using it, by both charging it and playing the audio you’re listening to on it.
