Ghost of Yotei Targets Deeper Narrative
Ghost of Tsushimawon over countless fans thanks to Sucker Punch’s masterful depiction of a romanticized feudal Japan filled with samurai. However,Ghost of Yoteipromises to enhance this formula in multiple ways.
Although we still lack extensive details about this highly anticipated PS5 release, the creators of Ghost of Yotei have briefly shared insights into their creative vision to start building anticipation.
During the Creator on Creator discussion, Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming didn’t reveal major details but did confide in Nicolas Doucet of Team ASOBI (Astro Bot) that the studio constantly strives to learn and improve upon past projects.
“In our work, we talk about it as if it were a staircase, where each game builds on the foundation of previous ones,” the studio revealed. “We want to keep pushing creativity and technique forward as storytellers and artists.”
What to Expect from the Sequel
With this approach,Ghost of Yoteicould feature a more complex narrative than Ghost of Tsushima. While the first game told a solid story, it wasn’t particularly intricate or surprising.
This could change with the sequel, though it’s still too early to speculate. Many are eager to see how the samurai saga will evolve in its second installment, set to be one of PlayStation’s most exciting exclusives.
Fleming also clarified the studio’s direction: they aim to keep progressing rather than chasing current industry trends. In fact, he noted thatGhost of Tsushimalaunched before the recent “avalanche” of AAA samurai games.
