Back in October, we reported that two newX-Men TV showsare moving forward,Legionat FX andHellfireon Fox. However, Fox recently canceledHellfirein favor of an untitledX-Menseries. The initial announcement confirmed thatLegionwill be set in theX-Menmovie universe, and today we have more details that reveal the show will actually affect the movie world in a unique way.

After the initial announcement,Legionseries creatorNoah Hawleystated thatLegionis not set within the continuity of theX-Men universeas it currently stands. Now it seems that Legion is definitaly connected to future movies in teh X-Men saga. ProducerBryan Singerand Fox Networks CEOPeter Riceappeared at the Edinburgh Television Festival, during a panel entitled “Gamechangers.“The Hollywood Reporterreports that during that panel,Bryan Singerconfirmed bothLegionand the untitled Fox show are part of the overall universe, and that they will tie into upcoming movies. Here’s what he had to say.

“(It’s) part of the X-Men universe, but when you watched it, you wouldn’t have to label it, it could exist completely on its own. (They) will relate to future X-Men movies (with a) really ambitious and fun and very unique storyline.”

It’s worth noting that it was recently rumored thatLegionmay not only be connected to theX-Menmovie universe, but also theMarvel Cinematic Universe, after a Marvel article mentionedLegionalong with MCU shows likeLuke Cage. But that rumor hasn’t been confirmed. The series centers on David Haller, played byDan Stevens. Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

The supporting cast includesRachel Kelleras the female lead, alongsideAubrey Plazaas David’s friend Lenny, who is struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, andJean Smartas a therapist with unconventional methods.
