Good news for fans of theFinal Destinationseries who have had trouble finding the film on streaming platforms: most of the series has found a new home on a new streaming service. Starting February 1st,Final Destination, Final Destination 2, Final Destination 3, andFinal Destination 5are all going to be available on the streaming platformMax. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, either, as the next film in the series,Final Destination: Bloodlines, is slated for release in May 2025.
TheFinal Destinationseries had an interesting way of coming to fruition, as the premise that would eventually become the basis of the entire franchise started off as a spec script by Jefferey Reddick that was originally written for the television seriesThe X-Files. All five films (and presumably, the sixth one that’s being released this year) center around a small group of people that escape certain death after one of them has a premonition that saves them all. Unfortunately, this leads to those survivors becoming victims to bizarre deaths caused by unexpected chains of events, due to them escaping the death that was initially meant for them.

What makes theFinal Destinationfilms stand out more than anything else is the way it characterizes death. Usually, horror and supernatural films personify the character of Death, who chases characters as a monstrous slasher, or demonic force.Final Destinationis much more ominous in how it makes death an invisible force of nature.
The ‘Final Destination’ Series Has Some Hits (and Misses)
Currently, there is only one film in the series available to stream on Max, and it’s arguably the worst one in the franchise. The Final Destination, released in 2009, is a 3D horror movie that follows in the footsteps ofFinal Destination 3in that it focuses on a new group of characters instead of continuing the story of the first two films. The fourth movie is often considered uninspiring and anticlimactic, and an unnecessary addition to the series.
The original two films are often consideredthe best in the series. After the creative, eerie, and violent setup of the firstFinal Destinationfilm, the sequel manages to up the ante with impressive stunt work and creatively designed death traps that the series would eventually become known for.Final Destination 3is an excellent trilogy capper that stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, albeit feeling like a retread of what was done with the first two films. Thankfully,Final Destination 5made up for the lackluster fourth film with creative moments such as the bridge sequence that reminded fans why the franchise is great when it works.

Max and Starz Just Launched a New Streaming Bundle — But There’s a Catch
Zack Lipovsky and Adam Stein are set to direct the 2025 movieFinal Destination: Bloodlines, and the directors previously worked on the 2019 Kim Possible film. Rumors have mentioned thereturn of a character from the original film, making fans even more excited about the new installment. If you’re new to the series, or just want a refresher on the story and lore of the films ahead of the release of Bloodlines, February 1st will be when viewers will have access to all the films of the series on Max.
