All this week, Gamescom attendees will have the opportunity to finally go hands-on withPragmataCapcom’s upcoming ethereal sci-fi adventure title. While this is absolutely fantastic for those at the show, home-based fans aren’t being left out in the cold. Capcom has released a swath of new details, artwork and even a browser-based tie-in for everyone to enjoy. There’s no new video yet, unfortunately, but read on for all the new info.

Capcom probably could have gone the route of trying to keep PRAGMATA as mysterious as possible for as long as possible, consideringhow it first revealed the gameto the world back in 2020, but, thankfully, it’s chosen the much more player-friendly route of helping those interested to understand what it is they’re getting into before they get too hyped. It’s something that’s always very nice to see.

Hack your way to victory.

The information Capcom has released seems to center aroundthe hacking gameplayattendees can experience at Gamescom. For the segment of PRAGMATA being shown, players will spend much of their time working through combat encounters with humanoid robots called “Walkers” before facing off against an area boss known as the SectorGuard. In order to come out victorious, players will need to wield both Hugh’s weapons and Diana’s hacking abilities in tandem while also staying out of the line of fire.

Ensuring that Diana isn’t interrupted while she’s doing her work is paramount, so the first thing players will need to get the hang of is Hugh’s thrusters, which enable him to easily evade enemy fire. As for how hacking as Diana works, players must use an interface called the Hacking Matrix to infiltrate enemy systems and do things like lower their defenses and interfere with their other functions. To further augment this, plates can collect “Hack Nodes” from the environment and pass through them in the Hack Matrix to activate them.

The Hack Node that lowers defenses is called the Decode Node. Its effect is apparently significant but only lasts for a short period of time.

Diana also has powerful hacking skills that allow for even more powerful effects. Those who play the PRAGMATA Gamescom demo will get their chance to use one of these, known as Overdrive Protocol, during their fight against the SectorGuard. Once activated and its gauge starts to fill, Diana will be able to hack all nearby enemies at once, opening up their armor, freezing them in place and making them easy pickings for Hugh.

Gamescom won’t be fans’ only chance to play PRAGMATA this year; Capcom has confirmed that it will be bringing the game to other upcoming events this year, including PAX West 2025 in Seattle, Washington. The hacking browser game mentioned above is also available right now viathe official PRAGMATA website. It’s not a 1-to-1 copy of what’s found in the full game, but it’s close enough that players should be able to get a feel for what’s in store.
