Horror directorEli Rothhas declared his hopes and plans for further installments in both theHostelandCabin Feverfranchises. While the filmmaker has recently sparked another slasher franchise in the holiday horror outingThanksgiving, he reveals toCinePOPthat there is much more to explore in the worlds ofHostelandCabin Fever, and Roth now has some ideas…

“Hostel, there’s a lot more to do. I’d love to go back to Hostel at some point. And Cabin Fever, as well. They’re a part of me. They’re like my children. I feel like I’ve ignored them for too long. And I’d love to go back to them in some way. I have ideas.”

Not only does Roth have ideas for sequels, he goes on to declare that he would absolutely want to direct the next chapters in both franchises.

“I would direct it. I don’t want it in anyone else’s hands.”

The firstHostelwas released back in 2005 and counts itself as a main member of the “torture porn” subgenre alongside the likes ofSaw. The firstHostelintroduces a group of American tourists who end up in Slovakia where they are eventually taken one-by-one by an organization that allows people to torture and kill others for entertainment.

A sequel,Hostel: Part II, was unleashed in 2007, and similarly follows a small group as they too find themselves the playthings of this rich, violent organization. Both movies proved to be heavily divisive, but both saw success at the box office, meaning another installment is very possible if Roth really wants to do it. A direct-to-DVD third movie,Hostel: Part III, was released in 2011 from director Scott Spiegel, but Roth was not involved in the production. Meaning he would likely ignore it.
