The producer ofCode Vein 2sheds light on its plot: a resurrected hunter and a young girl with mysterious powers travel to the past to prevent the world’s destruction in this action-packed soulslike set for release in 2026.
A New Duo Takes the Spotlight
Bandai Namcoofficially announcedCode Vein 2just a few weeks ago, the sequel to the 2019 soulslike action RPG. The game is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, and we’ve already had a first look at it in action, as detailed in our impressions.
Now, in a newly released developer diary, producer Keita Iizuka has shared fresh insights into the game’s story and characters.

Set in a ruined near-future where humans and revenants (vampire-like beings) coexist, the world ofCode Vein IIis being torn apart by the “Resurgence,” a phenomenon that distorts reality, and the “Luna Rapacis,” a moon that drives revenants into madness, turning them into Horrors and pushing the world to the brink of collapse.
The main character, a revenant hunter, dies during a mission but is saved by Lou, a young revenant who shares her heart with him and possesses the ability to travel through time. Using this power, the two journey 100 years into the past in an attempt to change the fate of the world, encountering other revenants across both timelines.
A Darker, Deeper Sequel
According to Iizuka,Code Vein 2will offer a more challenging action experience and expanded exploration compared to the original game, while retaining key systems like Drain Attacks, the Partner System, and the Blood Code mechanics.
He promises a dramatic story that unfolds across timelines and encourages fans to stay tuned for more news on this highly anticipated sequel.
