A few days back we learned that Halle Bailey (not, I repeat NOT Halle Berry) had been cast as Ariel, the titular little mermaid in Disney andMary Poppins Returnsdirector Rob Marshall’s highly anticipated live-action remake ofThe Little Mermaid. And today we have a killer bit of art courtesy of none other the than BossLogic that shows us just how slick Bailey could look as the red-headed mermaid with a super-crush.

As you may remember, a few weeks back we shared a killer piece of art, also byBossLogic, that reimagined Ariel as played bySpider-Man: HomecomingandSpider-Man: Far From Homeactress Zendaya. While that was an admittedly gorgeous piece of concept art, I think this is the better poster. And one of the aspects of Boss Logic’s new poster that sets it above the others is the fact that he throws a few jokes in there as well. Some of the jokes include the casting where he suggests that Idris Elba should star as “Angry At First, Dad,” along with Michael B. Jordan as “Eric” Wade Wilson as “Jerk Fisherman,” and Kode as “Random Fish.” Again most of those are jokes, but I have to say I would not be opposed to seeing Idris Elba take on the role of King Triton, or Michael B. Jordan take on Prince Eric.

Possibly joiningHalle Baileyas Ariel in this live-action remake ofThe Little Mermaidwill beBridesmaidsandSpystarMelissa McCarthy as Ursula the Sea Witch, along withThe PredatorandWonderyoung star Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, andCrazy Rich Asiansbreakout Awkwafina as Scuttle. Though none of them are officially confirmed byDisneyat the moment. More official casting is expected to be announced over the next few weeks, and we will make sure to pass along updates as we hear them.

Meanwhile, remember thatChicagoandMary Poppins ReturnsdirectorRob Marshallis taking the helm of this upcoming remake from a screenplay written byKingsman: The Golden CircleandMiss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar ChildrenJane Goldman along withMary Poppins ReturnsandMiss Pettigrew Lives for a Daywriter David Magee based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. On top of directing this new take on the classic tale, Marshall will also serve as one of the movie’s producers along with John DeLuca, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Marc Platt. Jeffrey Silver will be the film’s executive producer. The music for this new version will be coming our way from Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda, while Dion Beebe is handling the cinematography, and Wyatt Smith will edit it all together.

To properly pay respect here, the originalThe Little Mermaidwas directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, and it walked out of the seas and into a theater near your older brother back on July 18, 2025. This story comes to us fromBossLogic over on Twitter.
