Paul Rudd himself admitted that he grew up watchingGhostbustersfilms, and it was like a dream for him to play Mr. Grooberson in the franchise. Now, another actor is excited to work with Rudd on the upcoming iconic project within the nerd movie genre.

Patton Oswalt is Hyped Working with Paul Rudd inGhostbusters: Frozen Empire
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empireis an upcoming film that follows the storyline ofGhostbusters: Afterlife.It is the fifth installment in the beloved franchise. Directed by Gil Kenan, it promises a new adventure in the supernatural comedy realm.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, includingPaul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim. Rudd, Coon, Wolfhard, and Grace will reprise their roles from the 2021Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

In addition to the new stars, the film features iconic cast members from the original 1980s series—Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts—alongside newcomers Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt.
But it looks like theBladeactor Patton Oswalt, is freaked out to join the franchise more than any other actor. As he recently posted on his X account:

Even his fans are excited to see him in the upcoming film.

The first teaser trailer forGhostbusters: Frozen Empireis finally here. It was released on June 05, 2025.“For the first time in New York history, people froze to death in the middle of July,”Oswalt explains in the trailer. This leads Rudd to ask,“Like, literally scared to death?”
In the film, the Spengler family revisits the iconic New York City firehouse – reuniting with the original Ghostbusters. Together, they work in a secret lab to advance their ghost-busting techniques.
But when discovering an ancient artifact releases an evil force, new and old Ghostbusters join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
The film will hit theaters on August 14, 2025.
