Water Toter
More healing items mean you can get away with more mistakes inWild Hearts. We consider this as an essential upgrade mainly because you’ll need it once you encounter new Kemonos that you haven’t faced yet. It’s a simple yet effective upgrade for new players struggling to graspWild Hearts’mechanics. Trust us, the first few battles with the introductory Kemonos will be rough when transitioning from theMonster Hunterseries.
The Karakuri glider is an incredible tool that lets you fly in the heat of battle. While this may turn off other players or only use them to navigate the game’s semi-open world, you may unlock a new moveset with your weapons and incorporate them into your combos while facing the mighty Kemonos in the game. Overall, the Karakuri glider is a versatile tool you’ll need in and out of the battlefield.
Hunting Tower Expansion
The initial tutorial stage of the game had us scratching our heads in finding the target Kemono. That’s when we realized that we undervalued the Hunting Tower, because you aren’t supposed to spam your “Hunter Senses” in hopes of finding the Kemono. You need the Hunting Tower to locate the Kemono quickly, and having this upgrade will further increase the area of effect of the tower.
Ingredients Chest
While starting the game, you’ll be introduced to getting materials and ingredients upon slaying Kemonos or picking them up from the environment. Once you’ve progressed, you’ll quickly realize that you don’t have enough storage for these materials, hence this is when the Ingredients Chest comes in handy. Like regular chests, you’ll be able to store all of your materials clouding up your inventory space and access them at any point that you’ll need them again.
Paddle Scoop
“Fishing is so boring, I want the action.” Well, that’s what we thought when playing through these action-hunting games. Fair enough though,Wild Heartsdelivered this quality-of-life improvement into the game. Gone are those boring fishing segments and running around the riverside because you have an automated fish-catcher to do the work.
Tsukomo Ore Shrine
Another part of the game that we find too tedious is mining. Both the Paddle Scoop and the Tsukomo Ore Shrine are Karakuri upgrades that allow you to focus on the action of hunting down a Kemono. The Tsukomo Ore Shrine is the opposite of Paddle Scoop in the sense that you’ll place it on land instead to gather ores for you.
Spring: Extension
When we first played this game, we spoke about how unforgiving the dodge windows and wonky the hitboxes are. We were proven wrong once we incorporated Karakuri Springs into our gameplay. Karakuri Springs have longer invincibility frames (I-frames) than a dodge roll, which means that you’ll be safe for a longer period of time without getting hit. This upgrade allows you to extend those i-frames, helping you dodge big and powerful Kemono attacks.
