Baldur’s Gate 3, our favoriteGoblin Throwing simulator, finally gets a release window. Larian confirmed that the sequel will getting a full release in 2023.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Gets 2023 Release Date for the Full Launch
We finally have a potential release window for Baldur’s Gate 3! There was no confirmed date yet as of earlier this month inIGN’s interviewwith lead designer Swen Vincke. However, in this year’s D&D Direct, we finally confirm that the game will release in 2023, and not in 2024. The only downside? They did not reveal a specific month or date.
This can lead to speculation about when exactly the game would come out. We only have access to the first of three acts of the game, we lack multiclassing, and the max level in Early Access is just 4. There are specific power spikes that introduce a lot of mechanics in higher levels, the closest being Level 5. Larian has also confirmed that the max level would be above 10, but below 20.

It is because of these that we can probably assume that the game will be released in late 2023. Perhaps it is safe to guess that the Baldur’s Gate 3’s Release Date would be October 2023, just in time for the third year anniversary of the Early Access release.
D&D Direct and Baldur’s Gate 3
D&D Direct is an annual show that discusses and teases many updates to the belovedDungeons and Dragonsseries. This event isn’t limited to video games, as it encompasses everything and anything related to D&D.
For the specifics on Baldur’s Gate 3, we were treated to one of their usual humorous videos. Swen is passed out behind his desk (probably from playing too much BG3), so it is up to the rest of the team to see what’s up.

Looking Back with Larian
In the trailer titled “The Journey So Far”, our favorite narrator gets into the central character’s head. In this video, we get to see how far the game has gone since it launched inEarly Accessabout 18 months ago.
We get to see the love and care that went into the game by the different teams that worked on the game. Images of familiar faces such asShadowheart,Lae’zel, andGaleare sure to bring back many fond memories. We also get mentions of things that have changed, such as additionalcamping spotsand how we can nowthrow stuff better, among others.

The game has definitely come a long way since its Early Access release.
“By the Nine Hells, we’ve added a lot of great stuff already! And there’s more where that came from! Join us in Early Access for more!” the central character says as the video closes out. And then he finally declares “Or come along in 2023 when the game releases”.

One of the Meatiest RPGs Around
Baldur’s Gate 3 is shaping up to be the best sandbox RPG wherein we can live out our every fantasy. Even if the game is still in Early Access, it has tons of content that will keep players busy for dozens (if not hundreds) of hours. Players can choose between eight distinct fantasy races, such asDwarves,Githyanki,Humans, andTieflings, among others.
From there we can currently pick one of the nine availableclasses. Specifically, Early Access lets us be aBarbarian,Sorcerer,Cleric,Fighter,Ranger,Rogue,Warlock,Wizard, orCleric. We are just missing the Paladin, Bard, and Monk from the rest of the D&D roster. Multiclassing is also another feature that everyone is looking forward to, but isn’t currently in Early AccessPatch 7.

Another great system that Larian has implemented is the various ways to go aboutquests. Depending on their individualskills, traits, orabilities, players can tackle encounters in so many different ways.
Explorers could go in, spells blazing and slingingfireballseverywhere. Or you could be more strategic and take out specific targets before engaging with the main force. Or you can skip fights entirely if yourperceptionis good enough to find a secret passage. No two playthroughs of Baldur’s Gate 3 will ever be the same.
