The story will follow main character Ryzalin Staud, an everyday girl who starts to feel a little restless in her peaceful world. In an attempt to seek more excitement in her life, she starts looking for some interesting things to do with friends. Her personality is rather free-spirited, slightly stubborn as well as has a strong sense of what is right and wrong. Her adventure revolves around finding importance in something she has never considered before, discovering alchemy and a chance encounter with particular person.

The game features enhanced visuals, graphics and facial expressions, making use of more a more realistic aesthetic. In an interview with Dengeki (which was translated byGematsu), producer Junzo Hosoi revealed that they tried to find a balance between photo-realism and “toon-rendering”. Expect a coming of age story with character episodes and side story-like elements. This entry brings together Gust as well as Shakugan no Shana manga creator Yashichiro Takahashi, and character designed byToridamon. There will also be a new turn-based combat system which will be more intense, emphasising bonds between characters.

Since both the story and systems are changing, some players might be dissatisfied, but we’re prepared for that. But this is the first step towards a newAtelier, so we want people to experience it.

It looks like this will be a new spin on the Atelier games, bringing some new features and a slightly different look to games in the past as well as evolving the game systems. While some things have changed, Hosoi assures that “Synthesis, gathering, and battle being the core three elements of the game has not changed.”

While no release date has been shared it looks like we can look forward to more details on May 28th.

[UPDATE] - According to an article by Famitsu, there are confirmed plans for a Switch and PC release as well as PS4. PS4 and Switch versions will release this fall in Japan, while the PC version has yet to be announced.
